MAKING SMALL SPACES GREAT PLACES

StreetBoxPHL works with community partners to build low cost safety and place making projects within the Right of Way (ROW).

We do this to test models, serve neighbors and community institutions, and improve one of it’s Philadelphia’s biggest public asset; the 29 square miles of city streets and sidewalks.

ROW REFORM COALITION

The COVID-19 Pandemic has forced citizens, City officials, business owners, and community development organizations to reimagine how our streets serve our city. Clear themes have emerged for street-based placemaking in the last 10 months that make 2021 a critical time to revisit how the City manages its streets (technically referred to as the Right of Way, or ROW).

ROW ROUNDTABLE

StreetBoxPHL is launching an online learning forum about Right of Way(ROW) innovations, opportunities, and discussing ongoing challenges. We are building a constituency and community of ROW stewards, and we want you to join us, learn, grow and advocate on behalf of ROW stewards

NAVIGATING RED TAPE

StreetBoxPHL worked with Bartram’s Garden, the Ralston Center, and APM to show how critical technical capacity is to make basic improvements for neighborhoods with the most need. Through the ROW Steward Services Initiative launched in 2023, StreetBoxPHL and Community Design Collaborative will support the development and review of 3 public spaces in the ROW.
